Canonical Spagyric Quintessence of Paracelsus
The Canonical Spagyric Quintessence of Paracelsus contains the three alchemical philosophical principles namely: Mercury, Sulfur and Salt.
Before considering the liason between those three principles and the vegetable kingdom, we would like first to emphasize that the real Spagyric Quintessence of Paracelsus, whose symbol is the five-pointed star, not to be confused with the one with six points representing the seal of Solomon, can be obtained in all the three kingdoms (vegetable, mineral and animal).
This short summary of the Canonical Spagyric Quintessence of Paracelsus is only related to the vegetable kingdom.
We now explain the “modus operandi” to obtain a Canonical Spagyric Quintessence of Paracelsus.
We distill the fresh plant in a current of vapour to extract the essential oil orphilosophical Sulphur. Thedistillation can also be done without sophisticated equipment. Put ¼ of the volume from the grinded fresh plant in a long necked flask in pirex, than add distilled water to reach ¾ volume of the flask.
Put the capital that has the shape of a moorish head above thelong-necked flask carboy, than placeon a heat sourceto start the distillation. The water that starts to come out the capital containsa part of the essential oil of the plant. When the distillation is completed extinguish the heat source under the flask carboy. The pot for the collect of the distillate containswater and essential oil. As the essential oil is lighterthen water,it will stay afloat. A simple pipette is enough to recuperate the oil (a suggestion is to use a graduated cylinder that is high and narrow facilitating the extraction with the pipette).
The first principle needed to prepare the Canonical Spagyric Quintessence of Paracelsus (philosophical Sulphur)is now ready.
To obtain the philosophical Mercury , the second principle, which in the vegetable kingdom is ethyl alcohol,we need to proceed as following.
The alcohol is coming from the self plant and can be obtained with the residue of the plant that ,after extraction of the essential oil or Sulfur philosophical remains in the long-necked Pyrex flask. The fermentation will produce an alcohol solution that after distillation and rectification will reach 95 volumetric degrees. The process is easy but we shouldn't forget that to produce a Canonical Spagyric Quintessence of Paracelsus weshould only use plants. Consequently the operator needs to learn how to produce and extract the alcohol, or philosophical Mercury, from the plant. It is good toknow that every plant has an important quantity of a particular substance that once divided, transforms itself in "sugars"needed to produce alcohol. The information in this last part is very important because it gives the key needed to obtain the second of the three principles: the philosophical Mercury. The alcohol in a Canonical Spagyric Quintessence of Paracelsus can be obtained with the fermentation of the plant used to extract the philosophical Sulfur.
Here's how you get the third principle, and precisely the salt.
Once the alcohol is obtained the remaining residu of the plant ,on the bottom of the pot, must be burned. The ashes, which must be putted into a Pyrex bowl, need to be covered with distilled water to obtain a relationship of 1 to 10 in volume, in 9 parts of distilled water for each part of ash. Now place the carboy on a heat source and let it boil. Pour the boiling liquid in a Pyrex glass funnel with filter paper (pure cellulose filter) and collect the filtrated liquid in a second Pyrex.
After the whole liquid has been filtered put it on a source of heat and let evaporate the solution. Place the salts formated on the bottom of the carboy in a melting pot and than in a muffle at a temperature of 500-600 degrees during 24/48 hours. After this period extract the salts from the muffle and repeat the leaching and calcination three times; at the end of these operations we have obtained very white and purified salts which represent the third principle (philosophical Salt). The three obtained principles have now to be assembled.
